OVERALL TOP 5: 

  • SKIP: No Anna Leigh Waters, Anna Bright, Hayden Patriquin, or Christian Alshon in the draws. 
  • REVERSE: Ben Johns IS playing singles and men’s, not mixed.  
  • NO SPLINTERS: NOT a wooden paddle tournament (which was the case in September of 2025). 
  • TWO-EY: Just two tournaments left for players to qualify for the PPA Finals in San Clemente. 
  • A GRAND:1,000 critical points will be awarded to the winners. 

VENUE/TOURNEY/TV:

  • Just two tournaments left until the PPA Finals (this one plus Atlanta Slam). It features a progressive draw, 1 round per bracket per day at Life Time Arden in Sacramento (Year #2 for this venue).
  • Over 900 pro and amateur players are competing. 
  • Coverage on PickleballTV begins on Thursday with the round of 16 (starting at 1pm Eastern each day, except for Saturday which starts at noon Eastern).
  • No defending medalists (wooden paddle tournament played here last September). 

WOMEN’S SINGLES:

  • Kate Fahey (1) and Kaitlyn Christian (2) are the top seeds. 
  • Christian arrives in Sacramento after a stirring 7 point comeback in game 3 in the Hanoi final vs. Brooke Buckner (down 4-9, won 11-9). 
  • Potential R16 “Houston Open 2024 finals rematch”: Lea Jansen (3) vs. Samantha Parker (15)
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH: Judit Castillo (5) is 10th in the Race standings so she needs two big weeks to earn a spot in the top 8 and the invite to the finals. 

MEN’S SINGLES:

  • Chris Haworth is the top seed (for the first time) and Federico Staksrud, the 2. 
  • Haworth, Hunter Johnson (3), and Jack Sock (6) all in the same half of the draw…along with… 
  • Ben Johns (11) returns as the most talented 11 seed in the PPA’s history. 
  • Potential R32 matchup: Johns (11) vs. JW Johnson (23)
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH: Just 50 points separate Sock (who is in the 8th and final position in the singles race) from Gabe Joseph (7) who sits in 9th. 
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH 2: Because of his limited singles schedule in the past 12 months, Ben is 23rd in the race to the Finals and mathematically eliminated from qualifying in singles for the Finals.  

MIXED DOUBLES:

  • Without Waters/Johns, the Johnson siblings are the top seed, with Daescu/Todd the second seed. 
  • Mad Dropping: New MLP teammates Catherine Parenteau and Max Freeman (9) pair up for the 1st time. 
  • Potential R16: Black/Oncins (4) vs. Jansen/Sock (15)
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH WOMEN’S: Rachel Rohrabacher is 50 points behind Parris Todd who sits in the 8th and final qualifying spot. Rohrabacher is paired with Tardio as the 3 seed. 
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH WOMEN’S PART 2:Kate Fahey is just another 100 points back in 10th and is paired with Federico Staksrud as the 5 seed. 
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH MEN’S: Eric Oncins sits in 9th, 450 points behind Noe Khlif for the last spot but has a huge opportunity to make a move paired with Hurricane Tyra Black as the 4 seed.  
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS, WHO QUALIFIES: The top 8 women and men in the mixed rankings qualify and teams will be formed after the Atlanta event. 

WOMEN’S DOUBLES:

  • Top seeds: Jorja Johnson and Tyra Black (1) and Rachel Rohrabacher/Parris Todd (2)
  • Potential Quarterfinal matchup: Parenteau/Dizon (3) vs. Wei/Jones (7)
  • Potential Quarterfinal matchup 2: Fahey/Schneemann (4) vs. Pisnik/Campbell (5)
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH: Smith/Jansen (6) are both below the cut line of 16 female players (8 doubles teams are formed) in 19th and 20th places respectively and need a big run to catch Kate Fahey and Alix Truong who are tied for 16th. 

MEN’S DOUBLES:

  • Top seed is Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio, the 2 seed is CJ Klinger/JW Johnson. 
  • Potential R16: Bhatia/Newman (6) vs. Tellez/Sock (10)
  • Potential R16: Bar/Ge (7) vs. Howells/Khlif (11)
  • ROAD TO THE FINALS WATCH: Jaume Martinez Vich sits in 16th position in the standings just 75 points in front of Augie Ge. Martinez Vich is with Blaine Hovenier as the 8 seed.
