Another day, another highly controversial line call. While we love to post great pickleball highlights, funny memes, and other entertaining (mostly positive) content, every now and again we have to expose the uglier side of the game. A sport wart. Every person reading this has made a bad call. Most of us, myself included, have made a questionable call in the heat of the moment or out of frustration. But where this becomes a huge issue is when it’s a repeated situation. I’m not going to tag players or name names here, but the player making the call has been known for years to make questionable calls. To the point where extra line judges are consistently requested by opponents. IYKYK. Whether the ball was “in” or “out” here (and I’m near certain it was “in”) doesn’t really matter. What matters is that “where there’s smoke there’s fire”. If this was a one-off then the opposing team probably would have let it go. Almost bigger than the “out” call is the fact that they then tried to claim that the player who didn’t make the call “couldn’t see it”, which clearly the video shows he was right on it. Amateur tournament players and pros alike, STOP IT. Stop the blatant cheating. It’s a horrible look. It ruins the integrity of the game. It ruins your own reputation. It’s just not worth it.
