The Ultré, a brand-new hybrid shape in the 11Six24 lineup, is now live, joining the brand's Power 2 series featuring industry-leading HexGrit surface grit

Whether you know it or not, we're in the midst of a pickleball paddle renaissance.

Core thicknesses have largely standardized between 14 and 16mm. The most common shapes have been distilled to just three: elongated, hybrid, and widebody. Even the arms race to peak power has started to normalize to levels where at least we can see the ball as it goes whizzing past our ear.

The final (or, at the very least, the next) frontier is spin. And one brand, 11Six24, is at the forefront.

Lucky for us all, they're just getting started.

Making Surface Grit More 'Permanent'

11Six24 launched its Power 2 series back in March, debuting a first-of-its-kind durable surface grit called HexGrit.

From afar, it looks like any standard raw carbon fiber paddle face. But get closer and you start to see this is something else entirely. Run a finger across it and you'll realize this isn't just another pickleball paddle; it's a paradigm shift.

HexGrit is a proprietary technology from a small brand that's shaking up an entire industry. 11Six24 isn't the only brand pursuing "permanent" paddle grit – that is, grit so good it'll last longer than any other component on the paddle – but they're the current leaders in the clubhouse.

The brand’s new Power 2 paddle line features a proprietary silicon-carbide surface material designed to solve one of the industry’s most persistent problems.

It first debuted across their three existing paddle shapes:

  1. Hurache-X (elongated)
  2. Vapor (hybrid)
  3. Pegasus (widebody)

These paddles have a loyal following, but none follow what you'd call conventional shapes or dimensions.

Today, they unveil a brand-new shape for the first time in years.

Ultré – pronounced ULTRA – is a new breed of hybrid pickleball paddle. Long handle, parallel sidewalls, flat top.

It's quite possibly the best of all worlds when it comes to performance, consistency, and maneuverability.

Meet Ultré – Better By Millimeters

All pickleball paddles must measure a combined 24 inches by length plus width.

Traditionally, that breaks down a little something like this:

  • Elongated: 16.5" x 7.5"
  • Hybrid: 16.25" x 7.75"
  • Widebody: 16" x 8"

Ultré comes in at 16.35" x 7.65".

That might sound like an incremental change, but it makes a world of difference.

  • The long handle means the balance feels great and there's plenty of room for twoeys
  • The straight sides makes it feel more like an elongated paddle
  • The flat top maximizes every millimeter of the paddle face
  • The overall shape profile translates to great maneuverability while still maintaining an oversized sweet-spot

11Six24-sponsored pros like Augie Ge are already making the switch from the Vapor to the Ultré.

On the Court

The Power 2 series clocks in at the lower- to mid-tier power range. Feedback feels stiff and responsive. Pop is excellent. And the sweet-spot is large.

Overall, it's a full-foam paddle you can feel confident in from baseline to kitchen line. In today's ultra-saturated market, it's hard to ask for much more.

HexGrit has separated itself as one of the few premier longer-lasting surface grits on the market. Paddle reviewer channels like John Kew, Pickleball Pursuit, Pickleball Effect, and Pickleball Studio have all been putting it through the paces for months now.

After hundreds and hundreds of games, each is reporting the same thing: there's virtually no spin loss when compared to brand-new out of the box. That's a remarkable achievement, and the new standard others brands are now striving toward.

The Power 2 lineup from 11Six24 was already elite. The addition of the Ultré shape takes it to the next level.
