Six Zero's Boulder Opal Dials Back the Power, But Packs In Plenty of New Tech

Engineered for competitive all-court players who want plenty of offense but don’t necessarily need the hottest, poppiest paddle on the planet

Six Zero is adding another gemstone to the collection.

The upcoming Boulder Opal builds on the architecture of the Black Opal, but with one important distinction: Six Zero has deliberately dialed back the pop in exchange for more dwell, feel, and control.

In other words, this is the Opal for players who loved the Black Opal’s horsepower but occasionally wished it had a brake pedal.

What’s New?

At the heart of the Boulder Opal is Six Zero’s G4 Aerospace Solid Foam Core, packed into a quick-handling 14mm profile. But Six Zero says it has updated the paddle’s power band to moderate both power and pop while increasing dwell time.

The result, at least on paper: softer dinks and resets without sacrificing the ability to unload when it’s time to attack.

Six Zero is positioning the Boulder Opal’s overall power profile between the Coral and Black Opal.

It also carries over some of the brand’s newer tech:

• Power Gel designed to add pace without requiring a bigger swing
• Shock Shield silicone injection in the handle to reduce vibration
• SharkSkin raw carbon fiber surface, a racing-industry-inspired texture designed for high spin and reduced wear
• Reinforced Carbon Lite construction for stability without making the paddle sluggish

The specs reinforce that quick-but-substantial positioning: 8.0–8.3 ounces, a 115 swing weight, 6.4 twist weight, and a 5.5-inch handle.

Why It Matters

Power paddles are everywhere. The harder trick is producing easy offense without making the short game feel like damage control.

That’s the lane Six Zero is chasing here.

The Boulder Opal isn’t designed to neuter the power game. It’s designed to make that power more usable — particularly for players who want to speed up, counter, and drive aggressively while still feeling connected to the ball on resets and dinks.
