Storylines for the Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships – November 3-9, 2025

OVERALL TOP 5: 

• CENTURY MARK: This is the 100^th tournament in the PPA Tour’s history — going from 2,000 fans in Mesa in 2020 to over 55,000+ expected at Worlds this year.  
• TITLES: Ben Johns has 166 career gold medals — Anna Leigh Waters is just one behind at 165.  
• STREAKS: Waters in undefeated in singles in 2025 and Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio look to win their 7^th men’s doubles title in a row as a team. 
• 3 GRAND: 3,000 points on the line – two times a Cup and 3X an Open – one good week could catapult a player up the rankings. 
• BIG D(IRK): Dallas Maverick’s Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki headlines the Wednesday night celebrity pro-am – 7pm Central start. 

VENUE/TOURNEY/TV:

• Tourney #18 on the campaign – return to Invited’s Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas (suburb of Dallas).  
• Over 3,500 players participating across all divisions. 
• Progressive Format: Round of 64 Tuesday, Round of 32 Wednesday, Round of 16 Thursday, Quarterfinal Friday, Semifinal Saturday, and Championship Sunday.  
• PickleballTV (and the app) will have the coverage, starting each day at 10am Central, with Tennis Channel coverage on Wednesday and Saturday.

WOMEN’S SINGLES:

• Defending Medalists: Anna Leigh Waters, Kate Fahey, Salome Devidze
• Anna Leigh Waters (1) hasn’t lost a singles match in over 500 days – could have an early battle with Jorja Johnson (15) in the round of 16. 
• Fahey (2) would face Parenteau (7) in the quarters if seeds hold. 
• Lea Jansen (5), who won the LT Open singles only title, could face Devidze (12) the defending bronze medalist in the round of 16. 
• Watch out for: Genie Bouchard (9) – made her second final in Las Vegas, beating Parenteau and Fahey on her run to silver.

MEN’S SINGLES:

• Defending Medalists: Federico Staksrud, Michael Loyd, Hunter Johnson
• Staksrud (2) is riding the momentum of a win in Vegas last week where he had to save match points against vs. Sock (6). 
• Marshall Brown (17) soaring into Worlds after a run to the semis in Las Vegas. 
• Roscoe Bellamy made a great run to the final in Vegas – he is the (11) and would face Jaume Martinez Vich (5) in the quarters if both players make it to that round. 
• Watch out for: Ben Johns (7) – with 3,000 points on the line, will the GOAT with the 7 seed by his name make a run to the final?

MIXED DOUBLES:

• Defending medalists: Anna Leigh Waters/Ben Johns, Etta Tuionetoa/Christian Alshon, Rohrabacher/Staksrud
• Gabe Tardio/Jessie Irvine (5) – played brilliantly in Vegas on a run to the silver medal and look to carry that over in Texas. 
• Fun R32 matchup: Kovalova/Wright (25) vs. Stratman/ Donald Young (40). 
• Double southpaws – Jade Kawamoto is paired with Augie Ge (22) – lefty/lefty is a rare pairing. 
• Bar and Parenteau (7) last played together in 2021. 
• Watch out for: Rohrabacher/Daescu (6) – won game 1 before falling 11-9 in the 3^rd to Waters and Johns in the quarters in Vegas.  

WOMEN’S DOUBLES:

• Defending medalists: Rohrabacher/Bright, Waters/Parenteau, Black/Jones
• Waters and Bright (1) look to win 3 tourneys in a row. 
• Parenteau is back with Todd as the 2 seed. They made the final in the Vegas on the Strip event, losing to Johnson and Black. 
• Rohrabacher/Jade Kawamoto, first time partners, are the 4 seed and the perfect righty/lefty blend that could run it all the way to Sunday. 
• Watch out for: Johnson and Black (3) – beat Waters/Bright earlier this year and will have the Dallas Flash mob behind them.  

MEN’S DOUBLES:

• Defending medalists: Newman/Patriquin, Bar/Tellez, Staksrud/Wright
• Johns/Tardio (1) beat Alshon/Daescu (2) 12-10 in the fifth in the Vegas final last week in the longest match in Carvana PPA Tour history – 2 hours and 28 minutes. 
• Wright and Oncins (5) run it back and look to get to the semis or farther again as a pair. 
• Defending champion Riley Newman (with Patriquin) is paired with Jay Devilliers this year as the 6 seed.  
• Watch out for: JW Johnson/CJ Klinger (4) – the team known as Ice/Ice for their calm on court demeanor is the last team to beat Johns/Tardio – in Atlanta in May.
