The Florida Dairy Farmers Daytona Beach Open finished off an eventful 2025 year on the PPA Tour. Due to the proximity of the tournament being so close to the holidays, along with the fact that many players wanted to take a bigger rest before The Masters in January, many players skipped this event.

This left openings for different players and partnerships to rise to the top and earn some valuable PPA Points.

Let’s get into the action.

Both Jorja and JW Johnson Earned Double Gold

Mixed Doubles

Jorja and JW Johnson won gold together in mixed doubles for the fourth time in 2025. As the #1 overall seed, they were heavily favored. However, they had some tough competition on the way to gold.

In the first two rounds, they dominated the competition, going a combined 44-11. The quarterfinals are where they found their first test, in Rachel Rohrabacher and Federico Staksrud. The Johnsons were able to win 11-1, 3-11, 11-4. The semis were another tough three gamer, over Jessie Irvine and Gabe Tardio, 5-11, 11-7, 11-5.

In the finals, they faced off against Kaitlyn Christian and Andrei Daescu, who had some tough competition to get there. Particularly in the quarterfinals, Daescu and Christian won 13-11 in the third game over Catherine Parenteau and Dekel Bar. However, the Johnsons dominated the finals and won fairly quickly in three games, 11-5, 11-1, 11-4.

Men’s Doubles

With players like Ben Johns and Hayden Patriquin missing, this was an opportunity for a new partnership to make a deep run in men’s doubles. JW Johnson and Augie Ge did just that.

As the #3 seed, Johnson and Ge dominated their competition on the way to the championship. The team that scored the most points against them leading up to the finals was actually their first round matchup against Etienne Blaszkewycz and Carlos Di Laura, who they beat 11-9, 11-8.

The finals, however, turned out to be a marathon of a match. It was a five game brawl that took well over two hours and twenty minutes. Johnson and Ge were able to overcome Noe Khlif and Riley Newman, 11-8, in game five.

No matter what the outcome from that match, there was going to be a first time gold medalist, because both Ge and Khlif had never won a gold on the PPA Tour.

It felt kind of fitting for the Dallas Flash teammates (Johnson and Ge) to earn the gold together and for Augie to earn his first gold with JW.

Women’s Doubles

Jorja Johnson teamed up with Anna Leigh Waters for the first time ever, and they dominated the competition from start to finish. They never lost a game in their five matches, boasting a combined scoreline of 121-38, or an average of 11-3.5.

Anna Leigh only played women’s doubles in this tournament, which she won last year with her mother, Leigh.

In the finals, Jorja and ALW played against Catherine Parenteau and Hurricane Tyra Black, whom they have a ton of experience playing with, but not as much against. In the final, Jorja’s and ALW’s firepower proved to be too much, and they won 11-3, 11-8, 11-5.

The two teenagers are two of the best women’s doubles players in the world, and it was fun to watch them play together for a tournament.

Catherine Parenteau Won Her First Singles Gold in Over Two Years

855. That is the number of days since Catherine Parenteau won gold in singles on the PPA Tour. She last won at the 2023 Vulcan Tournament of Champions in August, 2023.

Parenteau was the #3 overall seed, and didn’t lose a game during the entire event. In the semis, she beat Lea Jansen, 11-8, 11-6, to advance to the finals against qualifier, Kat Stewart.

Stewart beat #1 seed Kaitlyn Christian, 10-12, 11-7, 11-7 in the semis to make the finals against Parenteau. Catherine won the finals 11-4, 12-10.

You could tell the win meant a lot to Parenteau, who was emotional in her post match interview.

With the win, Parenteau has really solidified the gap between the top seven women in PPA Points, and everyone else. She is number seven, with 7,350 PPA Points and Zoey Wang is in eighth, with 4,550 points.

Chris Haworth Earns his Second Victory of 2025

Speaking of PPA Points, Chris Haworth is FLYING up the PPA Points leaderboard in men’s singles. In this particular tournament, he was seeded #4, and his PPA Points standings have moved him up to 6th overall.

Think about this - Haworth was the 57 seed 100 days ago at the Cincinnati Cup, and now he is ranked six overall. Since then, Haworth has two golds, a silver (Worlds) and a bronze. He also is $50k richer, as he won the LifeTime Open.

Haworth made quick work of his semifinals opponent, Zane Ford, 11-5, 11-1. In the finals, he faced off against Gabe Joseph and played one of the best singles matches I have ever seen. Joseph played great ball, but for two straight games, Haworth basically couldn’t miss a shot. He also beat Joseph 11-5, 11-1 for his second gold on the PPA Tour this year.
